LAS VEGAS CITY DEVELOPMENT SERVICES BUILDING
Signature Communications is a Life Safety, data, and Security Systems contractor operating in six western states, including Idaho, Utah, Nevada, Colorado, Montana, and Wyoming. Beginning in 1998, as Tricom Communications, we based our operations in Las Vegas, Nevada, and took advantage of the rapidly growing market that soon more than doubled the population of this exploding boom town. Tricom has successfully completed many large and small projects in Nevada and the surrounding areas over the past decade. Our company philosophy changed over the years from bidding and dealing locally to engaging in a multi-state vertical market. Many prime contractors have requested that we follow their operations across several states, and thus, for the last 10 years, we have established project management techniques to cover a wide area of service. In 2012, we began establishing offices in other states where we could maintain existing clients and leverage our market potential. Signature Communications was created as the parent company of our multi-state operations and continues to serve our valuable customers throughout the West.
We were brought into this project at the last minute due to the city not having included this scope of work in their original contracts.
Joe DeHass, the supervisor for APCO Construction, knew us very well and knew we could get the job done. We worked through the deep political scheme of the city in order to obtain the required contracts and permits on time. Oscar Goodman, the mayor of Las Vegas, personally demanded that we immediately be given full reign of the communications scope of work.
There were 41 days until the scheduled completion of the project. We were to do all of the system design: 17 communication TR rooms, 21 conference rooms complete with AV and equipment, 3,800 computer stations, 5 miles of fiber optics, many cabinets and workstations, and the city's life safety dispatch system. The project was completed on time and on budget.
